Got a pair of jeans you've grown out of?
A denim jacket hiding in the back of your wardrobe? A Pinterest board full of ideas you've never quite got around to making?
Bring them to Denim Lab.
This extended 5-hour creative workshop for ages 12+ (unaccompanied, under 12's can attend with an accompanying adult) gives participants the time, resources and support to develop a project from inspiration and design through to completion. Whether you're customising a jacket, creating accessories, combining denim scraps into a new design, or experimenting with a completely original idea, you'll have the space to explore, make mistakes, solve problems and create something uniquely your own.
We encourage participants to bring their own denim garments and inspiration images to work from. Save your favourite ideas, bring screenshots on your phone, or simply arrive ready to explore and create.
All sewing machines, tools and creative supplies are included, along with threads, buttons, elastics, ribbons, trims and a selection of denim scraps and offcuts to help bring your ideas to life.

This workshop is facilitated by Danna Checksfield, Textile Teacher and Artist, who brings years of experience helping young people explore textiles, creativity and design. Participants are also supported by our young creative mentors, who help bring ideas to life, share skills, and encourage experimentation throughout the day.
No experience is necessary. Whether you're completely new to sewing or already love making your own clothes, you'll receive guidance and support every step of the way.
Denim Lab is perfect for creative teens, thrift-flippers, fashion lovers and young people who enjoy making things with their hands.
